Psoriasis is a chronic hereditary disease associated with T-cell dysfunction, causing the immune system to attack healthy skin cells in error. This leads to the up-regulation of keratinocytes and endothelial cells leading to plaques (dry red skin lesions) with sliver scales. These plaques are most commonly found on the elbow, knee, and scalp, but can be found anywhere in the body including nail bed and chest.
